Warren Pohatu Art

This term we decided to base our art on the myths and legends that we were learning how to write. Our teacher showed us some examples of Warren Pohatu's work and we then chose which animal we would like to draw. The next step was adding some Maori designs in the same style that Warren Pohatu uses. We started out with chalk on black paper then moved onto using oil pastels.  Our aim was to use hot and cold colours to make sure that our animal stood out. We think they look awesome.

We started this term by completing the Me, Myself and I unit. As part of this we identified what the things were that we liked the most. These included hobbies, food, sports and much more. We then had to stand in front of the projector while our teacher drew an outline around us on white paper. The next step was to draw as many of the things we liked as possible inside our outline and colour them in using nice bright colours. The last step was to glue it onto a piece of black paper to create the silhouette effect. We hope you enjoy our artwork.
